Jalgaon, Sept. 10 (Reporter):-Third Maharashtra Premier League or MPL in short, which was started in 2009 by the Sakal Group, is set to begin from September 28. Last years MPL 2010 winner Sinhagad Supremos team which is owned by Jain Group visited six Ganesh Mandals in Jalgaon city to seek Lord Ganesha blessings before they play their matches in MPL. These players also visited Sakals MIDC office. Sakal family welcomed them and the Sinhagad Supremos team players chatted for a long time about a lot of issues ranging from district stories to the international cricket.
Sinhagad Supremos began their tour of six Ganesh Mandals by first visiting the Tarun Kudhapa Mitra Mandal and prayed before Lord Ganesha to seek his blessings. They also visited Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank Employees Ganesh Mandal, Shivajinagar Mitra Mandal, Chandani Chowk Mitra Mandal, Vinayak Krida Mandal and lastly Nehru Chowk Mitra Mandal.
The third MPL is all set to begin on September 28. Eight teams – Sinhagad Supremos, Devgiri Emperors, Torna Tigers, Shivneri Lions, Sindhudurg Sailors, Panhala Panthers, Raigad Royals, and Pratapgad Warriors would fight it out in the MPL tournament. This yatra (journey) of players commenced from Aurangabad and it also toured various places in Maharashtra like Nashik, Pimpri Chinchwad, Ratnagiri, Kolhapur, Navi Mumbai, Satara. They ended this tour by last visiting Jalgaon.
The most amazing thing about the Sinhagad Supremos is this. It comprises many players who belong to moffusil areas in Jalgaon district. Normally if you talk about cricket, many people associate the players and the game also with either Pune or Mumbai. These city players usually dominate the State team but Jain Group has broken this link by giving talented players from the grass root level to play in the MPL under Sinhagad Supremos banner. This faith has been more than successful as these talented rural players with Sinhagad Supremos winning the last years MPL tournament.
JISL Vice-Chairman Ashok Jain and Special Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam today wished the Sinhagad Supremos well in the tournament during the Sinhagad Supremos tour of six Ganesh Mandals in the Jalgaon city.
“Jain Group has always sought to undertake any work only after carefully considering the future prospects of people in rural areas. So the cricket game is no exception to this criteria. Jain Group had always supported the players from rural areas and will back them in future also.”
- Ashok Jain, Vice-Chairman, Jain Group
